HEC-HMS is a well-established hydrologic modeling software that is capable of ingesting hindcasts, nowcasts, and forecasts of meteorological data to provide estimates of streamflow. HEC has developed an automated forecasting capability for generating streamflow forecasts using the desktop graphical user interface (GUI).
In a real-time, cloud deployed system, this process of ingesting meteorological forcing cannot rely upon the GUI and must be scripted to be automated with each new round of nowcast of precipitation.
